Age Group Rank = 11/29
Pre-race routine:

Toast with PB & honey, banana & coffee.
Event warmup:

Waved my arms around like I've seen swimmers do. It was MONKEY ASS COLD, so I tried to keep my clothes on as long as I could.
Swim
  • 06m 42s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Warm pool. 15s spacing between swimmers, which was PLENTY of time. I started in the 7:00 corral, and I think I passed 2 people. At one point I crossed under the rope when I shouldn't have, and I ended up swimming against the flow for a few meters. I got smacked around. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Great swim.
Transition 1

Bike
  • 48m 42s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 15.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Took a long time in T1 to put on gloves, arm warmers, toe warmers, and a dry shirt. I'm not sure what was wrong, but I was really not feeling any power on the bike. I couldn't climb very well, and my descents were not decent. See what I did there? On loop 2 I stopped to give a guy a spare tube and C02 carts. I saw him again on loop3 and he was walking his bike in, so I guess my gear didn't help.

Anyway, this bike leg concerns me. I'll need to figure something out.
What would you do differently?:

Ride the bike faster during the race. I need to muster some give-a-shit during races.
Transition 2

Run
  • 21m 55s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

This is my 5k PR. My main goal was to rock this run, and I was very successful. Both feet were numb, not just the toes either. The whole of both feet was numb. It felt like I was running on someone else's feet. Instead of being disturbed by that, I decided to embrace it, and beat the hell out of this other person's feet. I ignored pain and it really paid off for me. I knew that the finish line was right after the climb, so I did my best to leave it all on the hill. I'm beyond happy with this run.

Either that, or the course was short. It may have been short. I'm just sayin'.
What would you do differently?:

Run like this more often.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and asked if I won. I didn't.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My bike leg. It sucked.

Event comments:

I love the Anthem races. The bike is 3 loops of fun rolling hills. The run is one loop with a long, steady climb. There is always eye candy. Fun weekend.
