Transition 1
Bike
Comments: 85% ice at least. I faced my greatest fear today. Stayed upright so it was a success! So glad I have my cross bike. Hammered on the few ice-free spots and tried to spin smoothly on the rest. It was worst on the way back as it was melting and snowing so there was water standing on the ice. I heard someone wipe out close behind me and saw a wipeout 20 yards in front. Almost ran off the road twice but hung on. What would you do differently?: Nada. Transition 2
Comments: Had a little trouble getting off the bike and had to chat briefly. Mittens and Hotties slowed me down slightly -- so did turning back a few yards to leave my helmet before leaving transition wearing it. What would you do differently?: Focus more on what I need to do in transition before I get there rather than focusing so hard on keeping the rubber down. Run
Comments: Ran as hard as my breathing would allow -- was pleasantly surprised at my pace afterwards. Toward the end I turned my brain off and just followed a cool jersey. What would you do differently?: Nada. Post race
Warm down: Lunch w/ a great group of folks. What limited your ability to perform faster: No training for 6 weeks. Event comments: I did NOT want to get out of bed to freeze my ass off this morning but am so glad I did. And there was no freezing of body parts because I made good clothing choices. Racing Underground does a great job -- love my new sweat pants. Lots of fun people there today. Great to see you Richard!!!! Last updated: 2009-11-17 12:00 AM

Smoothie and coffee. Drove over an hour to get there -- roads bad for the 1st half hour.
None. Unless chatting counts.
