Swim
Comments: I knew that even if I just floated I would finish the swim so I took a more relaxed pace than normal and let the current pull me along. Got out in front of the wave fairly quickly and ran into the breaststrokers from the 2 waves before me. Got kicked but not too bad. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a bit harder and really use the current to my advantage. I knew the current was stronger further out but I decided to keep a beeline in the middle of the course so I would have to swim back to the middle to get out of the water. Transition 1
Comments: Walked most of it. Decided to get my heart rate down before hopping on the bike. Wetsuit came off super-easy. I tried some new Trislide silicone lubricant and it worked wonders. What would you do differently?: Not much, didnt run into any problems with the wetsuit or shoes. More training will let me transition at a faster pace but I think I have most of the technical stuff ironed out. Bike
Comments: Catching my breathe in T1 worked wonders as I was able to get into a much faster pace than I normally do. I felt I pushed this bike a little harder than normal where I could. Still need to do some MAJOR training on hills. They really sucked down my average speed. What would you do differently?: Ride. More. Hills. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty quick for me. This is despite the morons who decided to block the entrance to T2 by dismounting about 50 meters from the dismount line. It always makes the flying dismount more interesting when you have to stop 50m before you think you had to. No issues and no crashes though. What would you do differently?: Buy a tank and just run over the people blocking the dismount line next time? Run
Comments: I managed to run about 3/4s of the way at my snails pace which is much better than I had hoped for. Quads started to get that "We're about to cramp" feeling about halfway through but managed to run through it to the finish. Got stuck behind a woman who decided she should block the entire finish chute by holding hands with her two 5yr old daughters and crossing the line. Yay for you and your kids but do you need to block the whole damn finish chute in order to do so? If I was more competitive, I probably wouldve run them over, but at my pace, I figured a few seconds wouldnt hurt. What would you do differently?: Train more. Pretty simple. As much as I loathe running, I actually enjoyed myself this time. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed as much free handouts as I could carry and met up with the wife and went and relaxed in the park for awhile. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training combined with walking myself silly the two days prior to the Tri. Event comments: Awesome race. Not time wise, but it was definitely my favorite of all the races Ive done. Last updated: 2009-11-18 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:30, Showered, ate a PB&J, hopped on the 1 train to transition.
Walk the mile from transition to the swin start. Got my chip, relaxed. Ate some Hammer Gel about 15 minutes before the swim start, got in the wetsuit.
