Pre-race routine:

Arrived at 7:50am, registered (no real line at that point). Stood in the sun to keep warm. Used the toilet before I left the house so didn't need to use the portapotties.
Event warmup:

Ran an easy 5 min run at about 35 min pre race and another at about 20 mins. Some loosening up stretching.

Comments:

It was a good run, pretty much how I planned it and I was pleased with my time. Went out strong, trying to keep pace up but not get caught up with staying with the faster runners at the same time. Right knee started feeling sore about mile 3 but was ok afterwards.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing much. I might want to take in more water before the race as I had a headache most of the rest of the day. I hadn't been drinking as much as usual during the previous couple of days.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around awhile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Experience.

Event comments:

From a runner's perspective it was good. The race was delayed about 15 mins while they finished the late registrants. The start was on Hollister and not marked, so runners were a little unclear about where to line up and which way to go, though it was announced. The crosswalk lines were used for the start line. They closed one side of Hollister for the start of the race and this was not well announced or marked for the drivers. No suggested detours were given. It was very frustrating for the drivers.
