Untill 2 months before the race, I could not swim; and i had not swam in the ocean. Alli wanted to tdo was to finish the swim and i knew i could finish this race. Got passed by some people in the 2 heats after mine.

The waves were stronger than i expected, i saw people diving under the waves and decided to try it, and had my googles knocked off and salt water in my eyes, great start. I got the first bouy, and was exhausted. I dog paddled a little bit. got to the second bouy and i told myself that the waves would now be working for me. All was good until i was about to get out, and had two waves in a row, but i finished
What would you do differently?:

train in the ocean, and train more in my swim.

Having finished the swim, my worries were over, and i could try and have fun on my steed. I got into my petals smooth, and tore up peir (a slight climb), started my loop. In the nearrow parts, it was at times hard to pass BC there were people passing in a line (had to wait to get into the line, or be an ass and cut em off). But i passed enough people to make me happy. my areo drink was just empty as i rolled in.
What would you do differently?:

get more aggressive with my passing, i hated not being able to get over, and having to drop out of areo to brake.

I didnt pactice my run, to worried about my swim in my really short/late season. BUT i ran the 3 mile in HS (6 yrs ago) so i knew i could finish it, not fast but i could make it. I went out easy and could have gone faster, a unique running experiance right off the bike. i think it took almost a mile for my muscles to loosen up.
What would you do differently?:

Brick more often.

SWIm and reduced season.

Event comments:

Well organized fun event. when theytold us at the race breifing that this race was designed with the beginner in mind, i took it with a grain of salt, but it was a fun nebie course. Or at least i know i had fun.
