Run
Comments: course is always short. all 3 of our gps had it at 2.89, so i am guessing that is pretty accurate. it's a tough course though. long grass, mud, steep hills, and tons of cross country high school teams to push the pace. fun run though. i tried to stay with the leaders early and ended up settling into 10th place for most of the run. my avg hr for the run was 185, so i was red-lined the whole time. with ~1 mile to go a freshman came by and there wasn't much i could do. he was very excited afterwards and i was really happy for him. he pr'd and beat a sophomore nemesis. this race has 10 year age groups, but funny prizes. frozen turkey for first, grocery store gift card for second and a big pie for third. it's hilarious to see high school kids win a frozen turkey. they had no idea what to do with it. Post race
Warm down: ran home to ashburm w/ doug. Event comments: good local race for a good cause. i like the rugged course. it started late, but other than that it is well run. Last updated: 2009-11-23 12:00 AM

drove to leesburg, checked in, dropped off our donation food, and then ran a bit w/k to warmup and find doug. doug was running with his daughter as her first race ever and using the 5k as part of his long run.
i planned on running it hard and then running home so i could join him for at least half of his run.
