Run
Comments: I fueled really well, having at least one and usually two cups of water or gatorade at each aid station and I had a gu chomp every half hour or so. I had pretty good energy throughout but my R hip and left knee were bugging me and I was pretty beat by the time I got to the top of the hill at mile 21. I didn't give up on breaking the 3:40 mark 'til the last mile so I kept trying to push myself. In the last mile I would give up then get mad at myself and start pushing again and then I realized that if I sprinted the last hundred yards I would have a pr, so I did. What would you do differently?: I was kind of hot, but I was glad of the long-sleeves; if nothing else so I had somewhere to blow my nose. I should have planned ahead better and gotten to know the course. Positive splits were inevitable so I probably should have put more out there in the first half. Post race
Warm down: no warm-down because I ended up in the medical tent b/c I couldn't breathe. Sats were fine and lungs were clear but I couldn't catch my breath. After that I was freezing and wandered around til I found Casey. What limited your ability to perform faster: pain in my hip and knee, lack of motivation-no one to run with, minimal crowd support, etc... Event comments: beautiful course; great volunteers; minimal crowd support but that's not always a bad thing. Start lacked a little bit of organization at the start but wasn't really an issue because of the size of the race (just over 2,000 marathon runners) Last updated: 2009-11-30 12:00 AM
