Comments: Did not work the swim very hard. On the second lap I started to push the pace a little bit. Focused on body rotation and long reach. What would you do differently?: Go for it a little more. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time a little too much drying off and making sure I had all the gel etc for the bike ride Bike
Comments: Took a very time consuming pee break in the middle of the ride. My feet hurt the last hour - felt like they were bruising on the outside edge mid food. What would you do differently?: Avoid the pee break and try to do it on the run - its probably quicker to do during the run. Transition 2
Comments: Did not run through the transition area. Stopped a moment to chat with John. Another pee break. Overall a slow transition, but I was trying to mentally prepare for the run. What would you do differently?: Start thinking about the transition and what I need to do before I get into the transition area Run
Comments: Aweful. Starting off 1st 3 miles run a mile, walk through transition. Next 5 miles I would run 1/2 a mile then walk 1/10 mile. Surprised still avg 10:24 with all the walking. Legs did not hurt and I wasn't winded. The wind and sun were draining me. When I did run, my pace was good and was passing a lot of people. What would you do differently?: Gut it out and avoid walking any segments. Post race
Warm down: Lay down in the shade, Gatorade, Hoagie, beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mental & Physical preparation for the long run. Needed some more long training runs to be confident. Event comments: Well organized and lots of volunteers. Only drawback was the course itself. Pond was very dirty - like swimming in duck crap.
