Swim
Comments: I am very bummed by this, because I am swimming so much better overall. But it was right back to where I started, basically. The day was cool and there had been a lot of rain, so it was little choppy. Between that and other swimmers, I got enough facefulls of water to really hate the swim. I stop and looked ahead way too much. I had none of the focus from Rev3. Seriously considered my desire to do any more triathlons. What would you do differently?: Switch to dus? Seriously. Transition 1
Comments: Just glad to be out of the water! I walked this a bit, I was spent from being in the water. Decided to bring the camelbak today, to practice that in transition. It was really a non-issue, very easy. Bike
Comments: Ever since my bike fit, I am not feeling power on the bike. I've rode this course about a hundred times and only recently have I needed to use the little ring so much. I hate that I was :46 slower than last year. I was really hoping to make up 1-2 mins here, but just barely squeeked it in. It was cool and had a bit of wind, esp a headwind up the Hardest hill (Homestead). The crowd that cheers there helps a lot, though. What would you do differently?: Keep working on the bike fit, or work on adjusting to it. Transition 2
Comments: I thought it was fast, but actually :05 slower than last year. Since I was racked in exactly the same spot, this is too bad. But still fast overall. I had stuffed a headband in my sport bra which was my best idea to date. I grabbed my race belt and headed out and was able to put my hair back after I left transition. Run
Comments: At least I had one super highlight! This was awesome running weather for me. I started with a trip to the camp bathrooms (seconds well spent) and then headed up the woodchips. Walked that and then settled into a comfortable pace. My right foot was numb from the bike still, which is probably fine. My first mile was about 10:45, which I thought was promising due to walk and potty. My second mile was close to 9, which is truly amazing. I continued this way and will have to check my last run split which was probably the fastest of all (downhill). But this is nearly my open 10K pr and it felt pretty much good the whole time! Wow. This run alone accounts for my big PR. This was a 5:40 improvement over last year. Edited to add: Mile 5 was 9:35 and the last 1.2 was 9:35! Post race
Warm down: I cooled quickly while I waited for my friend to finish and then it started to drizzle, so we decided to pack up our stuff and get on the road and skip awards. The top of my hamstrings were wicked tight, so I did stretch them a little. I thought there were only 2 ladies in my AG. Turns out there was another gal who finished long after, so long that she wasn't listed in the preliminary results. Event comments: This race was taken over by Final Stretch this year, and I think they do a bangup job. Right on time, awesome stops on the run (every mile!), great volunteers, etc. I love racing at Baker Park. I wasn't a huge fan of the food this year, but they seem open to ideas so I will let them know my opinion. For the first time in 3 tries I left this race feeling satisfied. No mistakes by me, just did what I could on this day and happy for some improvement. Last updated: 2009-12-03 12:00 AM

Met up with a several BTers, which is a rare treat. Usually we're too disorganized to make an actual plan. Set-up as usual otherwise
After the wetsuit wriggle, I went out and swam a few yards two different times. The water was choppy and I was panicking just in warm up! I forced myself the 2nd time to relax and finally convinced myself I could do it.
