Pre-race routine:

ride in the most crowded ride line ever. It almost got violent and ugly. CTA needs to run more trains on event days.

Comments:

I had perfect 9 minute miles going through mile 10. Then felt the familiar twinge in my calf and noticed the salt running down my thighs. By mile 11.5 I was forced to a run/walk. I struggeled through to the finish. The finish was so sad with me literally having to stop about 50 yards short to massage out a cramp since I couldn't even move. I ended up hoping from there to the finish on one leg. It was especially painful know ing how close I was to hitting my goal of 2 hrs.
What would you do differently?:

Drink from the sponge. still more salt/fluids. Take Taxi down instead of fighting red line crowds.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

cramps/no aid stations for second half of race, almost.

Event comments:

Was not a fan of the post-race concert choice. The medal was very nice, though. Was also not a fan of the McCormick Center packet pickup. When when these companies realize 80% of runners in these races are from the northside and they should do packet pickup up there. Really grumpy about the big gap in fluid statiosn, obviously. Gorgeous day, though, and fun race. Can't forget to end on positive. Wave start was perfectly designed. I was able to run my pace the whole way without fighting crowds. May do again next year, depending on training schedule.

Course: Course was very cool. I had run most of the city part of the course before and was prepared for the 'hills'/bridges. I warned Jacy about this, but she said she was still surprised. The two tunnels were very hot, as expected and the only real hill being at the end kinda sucked. Again, overall, the course was awesome. Aid stations were greta except for miles 8-12 where there was a total of one station that only had sponges. Had I known that was the only water I'd see for the next four iles, I would have taken one. I've seen most race reviews mention this. I place a fair amoutn of the blame for my crapming at milee 11.5 on this.
