Pre-race routine:

had to pick up packet at registration open. missed registration night before. got numbers set and packed everything for race. ate breakfast. went down to transition and set up. time trial start so routine got a bit delayed.

no warm up. stretched a bit.

Comments:

good start. felt very good. had a bit of a problem with foggy goggles. goggles got fogged up during wait for start. forgot to start watch, started it partly through swim.

had problem with navigating second to last nav buoy. picked up an orange buoy, but not the last turn buoy. had to swim a bit to get back on course.
What would you do differently?:

wait till t1 to start watch.

have more faith in swim. stopped and did breaststroke a few times when i didn't need to.

Had a problem getting left shoe in clip. took about 30 sec. to get going and up to speed.
What would you do differently?:

not much. it didn't feel like i took that long. it was pouring and i was debating about wearing my sunglasses. also, took a bit of time to cover up my running shoes and socks again

not a bad bike considering it was the second one since last sept. wet roads slowed me down a bit. could have gone faster on the downhills. did better on the first set of uphills than usual.

tough uphill on the way back.

practice hill repeats.

good t2. got to bike rack, racked my bike, and went to get my socks on. soaked. i put my sneakers on w/o socks. put on run number. went to run, and went back to grab my hat.
What would you do differently?:

put speed laces on these sneakers. not much else, can't change the weather

good run. had some side stitch issues. did a pretty good job of keeping HR around 170.

stopped 3 times. once to tie sneakers, twice walking through aid stations

felt close to bonking with about a mile or so to go. not sure, what happened.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. maybe not grab the hat. started to get hot with it on.
Post race
Warm down:

i drank water, and tried some post race grub. felt like throwing up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of bike time hindered bike.

Event comments:

good race. location didn't have a lot of ramp access. tough to bring a stroller for a 12 week old around with only stairs.

got stomach bug over the weekend somehow. My buddy I raced with also did as well. Could have been the meal friday night. not sure
