Comments: Felt better today with two full days off from running before the race. I was ready to go for the race. Twenty eight degrees at the start of the race; pretty chilly. Set my Garmin for a 7:30 pace and stuck with it during the first mile. Had a good race start, did not get to clogged up with other runners to much. Beginning with the second mile I had difficulty keeping up the pace (7:30) and fell behind a little. However, beginning with the second mile I began passing a few runners; that was encouraging. And, I had a short kick approaching the finish line. I need to learn to pick up the pace about 1/4 mile from the finish line and forget the kick; I think that would be a better strategy. What would you do differently?: I think next race I should set a 7:15 pace at the begging of the race and see how long I can hold the pace. Training at a 7:15 pace is reasonable and the only way I will better my current 5K 7:30 pace. If you want to run faster you have to run faster......Amen ![]() Post race
