Run
Comments: Not a good race today. I died at mile 9 and ended up walking and running the next 4 miles. My plan to go out slower the first 5 pick it up the next 5 and run sub 8:30 the last three didn't go as planned. There was no reason to be off today - tapered this week, I had run a sub 2 hour during training on a similar type course. The only difference was the humidity it was 95% but that should not have slowed be down by 1 minute and 30 seconds per mile. The race itself was outstanding. There were over 18,000 people between the half and full. It made it tough to get water at times.. What would you do differently?: Don't have a good idea however not completely discourged about it. I keep telling myself I am in this for the long run and will live another day. It was just not my day for what ever reason Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Humidity and mental fortitude. I bonked at mile 9 and am not sure why. I had trained at less than two hours and sub 9 minute but didn't have it today. Event comments: This was a great race and will plan on doing it again. It is a great time in Florida in January. The race was well organized despite 18,000 runners. I stayed in South Beach and it was very nice. I would recommend this race to my friends. Last updated: 2009-12-08 12:00 AM

Arrived at the race at 4:30 AM for a 6:15 AM start. A lot of people getting ready to run. I started in the D shute and due to the crowd was not able to do any warm up. It was very humid at start.
None big crowds made it next to impossible to warm up.
