Event warmup:

I actually warmed up! Rode up and down the main park road and then jogged around a bit. Amazing.

Comments:

My friend Carrie started us out on the run. She has the only official split so far, 25:55! She did great and placed first in our division for this segment.
Transition 1
  • 00m 31s
Comments:

Kristi removed the chip from Carrie and put it on my ankle. This is our method and we beat everyone in our category for T1. I got the heck out of transition before thinking too hard and clipped in just past the mat.
Bike
  • 40m 30s

Comments:

This is where the results go wacky. I really wanted to see the official time, but it was definitely 40 and some change. I am pretty sure I was fastest in our division - 2nd year in a row!

This was a perfect ride, really. Very little wind, really cruised. The course was a bit more beat up than usually. Road work on one long stretch of shoulder and lots of debris. I pushed really hard, stood on hills, etc. What did I have to lose?
What would you do differently?:

My only problem is an apparent lack of cornering skills. I've become very chicken. I will be working on that. I honestly could have gone under 40 if I had cornered better.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This didn't go as well as T2, no official time - grr. In her haste, Carrie struggled with unfastening my strap. But she got it worked out and Kristi headed out.
Run

Comments:

If I guess at T2, I think Kristi was around 27 mins. That was great! And probably also good for 1st in the division. I wish the splits would be fixed...

Event comments:

We didn't realize we had first place until our team was called. Another team beat us who we thought was female (based on name) but must have been co-ed. We were thrilled!!!

Ran out of water at the finish.
The Minnefota Moments guy left before the awards! So no medal pic.
Typical V.S. crap. What makes this race appealing is the 1/2 price signup in December and the nice park situation. Gear west supplied hot dogs which I enjoyed, and the trail mix is actually a nice treat.
