Bike
Comments: I got pretty nervous right before the race. My HR was around 140 right before the start! I couldn't get my feet clipped in when I got up to the start. I started off in too hard of a gear and had to shift down right away which wasn't good. After that, I came out too hard. I road at about 450-500 watts for the first section and that probably cost me on the hills on the way back. Nonetheless, I pushed extremely hard and I'm pretty happy with my performance. I also got confused on the finish. I thought it ended right after the start, but you had to go around a quick corner to cross. I would have shaved off a few seconds if I knew that. What would you do differently?: Not push too hard at the beginning and know where the finish is. Post race
Warm down: It took me a while to get back HR back down. I sat and chatted with a few friends after and watched some people finish. Then we road back to the campground. What limited your ability to perform faster: Proper pacing and going up the hills. Event comments: It was actually a pretty intimidating event. I know I have an awesome bike, but there were some incredible bikes there. I'd say there more people with sick tri bikes with race wheels than not. It was a cool experience and a lot of fun. Left work around lunch time, switched cars with my mom and got up to Waterville about 2 hours before the race to setup my camp site. Did all that then road over to registration, checked in, and then road back to the camp site to drop off my swag bag.
Riding to and from registration, picked up the pace and did a few intervals on the way back to the race.
