Run
Comments: I found myself doing slight interval training trying to catch up to the pace group after aid stations until I finally gave up. Dodging people really does suck. I can't really imagine why someone would want to do the Peachtree (except, I would guess it would be more orderly with the verified times for the start corrals). Btw, I had the fun experience of running behind someone who had visible GI issues.....eeeeuw! I didn't really expect to see that on a half and she just kept catching up and getting just ahead of me no matter how hard I tried to get away. What would you do differently?: Maintain a slightly more consistent pace (and a little faster too). Good first half-marathon. Post race
Warm down: Walked and walked. What limited your ability to perform faster: Pain in hips and knees. Tight calves didn't help either but they didn't go all aggro on me or anything. I slowed down for a while when the pain really started to bug me and then got to mile marker 12 and decided to suck it up and pick it up. I felt good at the end. Getting there 2 hrs before the race and standing around probably doesn't lend itself to peak performance. Event comments: Despite it being quite cold when I stopped running. I totally loved the little mini milkshakes they were giving out. I LOVE milkshakes! Last updated: 2009-12-17 12:00 AM

I volunteered before the start so I had to be there by 5 am and I had to set my alarm for 3:45. In retrospect, I could have set it a little later because getting there at 4:40 screwed me for parking and just meant that I stood around longer. The whole volunteer thing was pretty disorganized at first but eventually it worked out. I don't think I was very useful as a volunteer though.
I jogged to/from gear check right before the race.
