Run
Comments: Felt pretty good for the first loop, running the entire thing except for a couple of hills that I couldn't run because people were walking up or down in front of me. Saw a couple of pretty good falls out there, especially on the last two loops. Went down myself once or twice, but nothing too bad. By the last six miles or so I had switched to a 4 minute run, two minute walk, but my run kept getting interrupted by hills, so that strategy was pretty choppy. What would you do differently?: Not wear gloves- by the end of the race they each must have weighed two pounds from all the sweat and snow/ ice, etc. Post race
Warm down: Ate some soup, TRIED to stretch out, then drove the four + hours home- not good as far as stiffening up in a major way! What limited your ability to perform faster: Having never even done a stand alone marathon (only marathon was during the Beach2Battleship Iron race six weeks ago) I didn't know what to expect. But, I think I fared ok based on my inexperience. Event comments: This was tough! Two days later, and I feel much worse than two days removed from the Iron Distance race I did six weeks ago. Glad that my year is over! Last updated: 2009-12-21 12:00 AM

Got to the site after clearing a couple of inches of snow off my truck at the hotel- oh joy, what was to come. Ate a couple of Powerbars and drank some water while trying to stay warm before the start.
Just that- trying to stay warm, literally. Not much, I had the first of three 10.8 mile loops to warm up!
