Swim
Comments: The swim was straight forwards, unfortunately the adrenaline kicked in early, the first 200M was really great, the last I was struggling for breath. What would you do differently?: Practice 400M sprints. Transition 1
Comments: Running in the mud out of the water threw me off balance several times and running with my cleats on in the mud didn't seem like a great idea. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: The most beautiful campus and course every ridden, at times I felt like I was just on a casual ride because the campus scenery takes your breath away. The uphill segments are long, but so is the downhill section. Aero bars won't help you since the course has one turn after another. Also the traffic patrol were terrible, saw on more than one occasion the traffic guards waving in the direction of the cyclists, but it was meant for the cars, which confused the competitors. Saw a cyclist almost come inches from colliding with a car. What would you do differently?: Go with a road setup, you'll want to be able to get out of your saddle to attack those hills. Transition 2
Comments: Took my time tying my shoeslaces...needed a few seconds for my legs to transition from bike to run. Started feeling the onset of possible cramping. Run
Comments: Felt great during the run, had to take it down a step on a few occasions as I attempted to keep my legs from cramping at bay. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramps, cramps, cramps...can't seem to figure out why my last two races I've felt the onset of cramps and each time I'm holding back in order to keep from letting it occur. Event comments: Very disorganized for a 6th annual race. Lot's of volunteers but they had conflicting information. Overheard another participant who had done the race last year mention the previous years were much better. Don't know what happened this year. Last updated: 2009-12-22 12:00 AM

Woke up ate breakfast, did a short set of push-ups and sit-ups. Used the restroom at home instead of at race since it tends to get crowded. Loaded up the car and was on the road by 5am, got to UCLA in 30 minutes.
