Pre-race routine:

Woke up feeling heavy and with a uneasy stomach. Back was very tight, too, which was worrisome.

Breakfast was oatmeal and a handful of cereal.
Event warmup:

None. Also, was pretty far back in the pack, and we didn't get to start until almost 20min after the gun. Was shivering cold waiting to get started.
Run
  • 1h 35m 25s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a much better run than I had expected at the start of this morning. Though the start was a little slow and I dodged a lot of people, felt like the pace was pretty comfortable early on. I was able to bump up the effort at specific points, and was happy with being able to keep up the effort each time.
What would you do differently?:

#1 - Warm up before the race, and #2 - start with more appropritely paced group. Both should let me start with a better pace in earlier miles.

Might try starting the middle phase of my race a mile earlier (e.g. mile 7 instead of 8).
Post race
Warm down:

Not much. Just walked around a bit before returning to the finish chute to find Katie.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of warmup.

Event comments:

A few issues getting the race started, but overall a great event. Expo is OK for marathon, but not nearly as extravagant as White Rock. However, food tent afterwards is great (even beer and ice cream!)

Not as much live music on the course as last year, but aid stations were well staffed and plenty of cheering.
