Swim
Comments: So I knew I looked as bad as I felt when the MC said "looks like there is some apprehension out there" and he was staring straight at me. I nodded, he said "get on out there and see what you can do". Well, I was looking for the life gaurds, there were plenty, good. ;) Swim started and my panic attack started immediately. I started to swim with my head out of the water, treaded, swam, treaded, swam, floated etc. A life gaurd came by and asked how I was, I really needed to calm down. Finally got up to the LG raft and hung on for a few minutes. Swam to the buoy, and then I was finally better! Off I went. I had to keep telling myself that I was at Valley Lo and Libby and Merv were there and I was fine (I swim there ever week and I'm fine!!!). It worked, got me back in the groove. It's all mental, really. I bring myself to this anxiety and then have to learn to get myself out. I spent the majority of my swim time just getting through the first half of the swim. :( What would you do differently?: Well, I think the only way i'm going to get past this anxiety thing is to just keep doing more races. Eventually, I'll get over it, I hope. Not sure what else I can do, I'm practicing my ass off but here I am. Transition 1
Comments: Since my bike was wayyy in the front, I had a long run in from the swim. I walked a bit then started jogging past the racks. Found my bike easy enough. Sprayed on some Suit Joint earlier to get the suit of easy and it worked really well. Had everyting covered from the rain earlier, it was somewhat dry (nice). I was close to the bike out so that was fairly uneventful, no one else was around. What would you do differently?: Well, I'm hoping my swims get better so my energy level here is a bit better. I'm mentally exhausted from the swim, so I struggle to think straight when I get out. Bike
Comments: My favorite part. The first part of the road is a hill, naturally it took me a while to get in the groove. I really thought I would keep a better pace but there was a head wind and I think it slowed me down a bit. Got better around the last 4 miles or so. But slower than I would have liked. What would you do differently?: I need to get a light or clear pair of glasses for overcast days. Transition 2
Comments: The bike in was back where the swim in was. Wayyy in the back so I had a long run in with the bike, but a short run out for the run. No yanks yet, got to get those on my shoes. Sat on the floor, got everyting together, ran out while adding my race belt. What would you do differently?: Get the yanks on my shoes, leave my sunglasses when not needed! Run
Comments: Started of a bit slow but slowly increased by speed as I went along. Started to rain again around mile 2, then I saw some lightening. NO Way are they going to pull me off this course with only a mile to go!! Kept creeping my pace up and the rain actually felt really good. Ended up pretty strong. Someone came by me and said "thank you for pacing me the last mile". :) I had no idea. :) What would you do differently?: Nothing here, I liked the run, I felt good (besides having to pee) ;). Post race
Warm down: Went over to transition to try and gather my things, hoping they would stay somewhat dry but as I was there it DOWN POURED! I could barely see in front of me. I grabbed my bags and walked over to a tent and stood underneath it for a while waiting for Pat. Ed came by and chatted, then after the rain let up a bit, I walked over by the finish line and ran into Dave from BT. Nice to finally meet him! :) Found Pat and went back for our things, wringing them out as we went along and rode back to the car once it stopped raining. What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim as usual. I really need to work on my transitions too. I tend to not worry about the time as much, hence why I take so long. Event comments: Not much after since it was down pouring and every one was running for cover. Last updated: 2009-12-22 12:00 AM

Up at 3 am, bagel with peanut butter for breakfast. This worked well, not too much fiber and my stomach was ok today. Got there, setup transition..actually had enought space and went off to look at the set up. The bike in was not where the map said it should be, they moved it and the run out too. Good think I looked.
Started to rain, so everyone went inside while we waiting for news but the race did start on time.
Ran into Amy and a few other friends from TWT too and chatted for a while. Since I was in wave 20 (the second to the last wave), I had a long wait. I took the time to do some barefoot jogging loops around the parking lot and some stretching, then went to watch the swimmers. My swim anxiety started to hit really hard here.
