Swim
Comments: Lots of waves/chop - going out was fine, since I breath on the left and waves were coming from right. Coming back was bad though - caught mouthfuls with every breath and had to alternate with some side strokes - very slow. I thought temperature would be the killer, but the wind was for sure. What would you do differently?: Learn to breath on my right so I can switch if faced with the same situation. Transition 1
Comments: First time with wetsuit, so I struggled alittle to get it off efficiently. Plus I was freakin' COLD!! Wanted to do the transition to bare feet into the shoes, but again, too cold for bare feet on the bike. What would you do differently?: Practice getting the suit off. Bike
Comments: First tri with my new Tarmac - loved it and felt like I was faster. Gears shifted flawlessly. Love that bike! Didn't drink anything - it was a short course and wasn't sweating much. What would you do differently?: Figure out the method for T1 with shoes on bike. Nothing different on actual ride - felt strong the whole way. Transition 2
Comments: Feet and hands cold, so dexterity was a problem. Need to get the laces that just pull up rather than ties. Also, should have thought to take off cycling gloves during approach. What would you do differently?: Gloves, shoe laces Run
Comments: Felt good, except for my feet - at the beginning, they were frozen from the bike and I could not feel them. Felt like my socks were bunched in my shoe. Was going to stop and adjust, but just kept going and around 1.5, they started to thaw and I realized my socks were fine. Ran well, didn't drink, but felt fine. Good kick at the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing - good run. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and juice. Just walked around alittle. Tried some of the snacks - flavors were not appealing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike and run were pretty good, but the waves in the lake killed me on the swim, which is usually a strength for me. T1 was lousy also - first time with wetsuit. Event comments: Given cold, the race should have started on time - not cool keeping people on the beach shivering. I was denied BBQ after the race because I had already torn off the bottom of my race number, which I always do so that it doesn't flap. I had markings all over me, but the dick at the serving area wouldn't give me a friggin' cheeseburger. Left, pissed off, now realize I came in second in my age group and could have been at the podium! Go figure. Last updated: 2009-12-23 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:15am to pack and make the drive from CT. Got coffee along the way and had PB sandwich and Atkins Bar. Had water and G2 when I arrived. Registered and got set up while freezing fromthe wind and cold temp.
Jumping jacks, minor stretching, then a dip in the water - it was actually better than the air! Getting out of the water was brutal though.
