Run
Comments: I did not talk near as much this year as last, maybe the cold or just trying to concentrate on pace. I did talk with a guy a little younger than me who had 4 boys 20 to 3(SURPRISE) that was a fun conversation for about 2 miles ( 8 & 9). Also had women say we should be on our bikes, she saw my T3 triathlon jersey). She was wearing a Ironman Hawaii shirt, told her that was awesome. Inside the track passed a woman that must have been 75 moving well, she lit up when I gave her a thumbs up & shouted awesome just awesome. Somewhere in the last 1/2 mile a young girl stopped on the side and started streching, I shouted you can not stop now with 400 yards to go, she looked up & I waved & said come on. She ran up beside me complained about a cramp, I told her 400 yards no stopping, She said thanks ran in front of me & finished strong ! Indy 1/2 Mary 10:30 10:03 10:01 11:22 stopped porta potty 10:41 11:18 take off sweats/took gel 10:57 10:42 10:59 10:56 10:46 11:07 12:15 last 1.1 6' faster than 2009, was shooting under 2:20 but cold & wind was a factor What would you do differently?: I guess train more, I was more ready this year but still very sore at end of race. I really think cold had a lot to do with stiffness. Post race
Warm down: I ran into Carla Leber about mile 11 and at finish. We talked a bit while going through chute for food , medals, pictures. I went looking for family and could not find them, I was almost ready to go to motel when I found Lynn. We headed for motel with gkids as we were freezing. IT was very tough 6 blocks, I was very stiff & shaking from cold. Got to motel turned on heat in room & took long hot shower. Staying downtown was expensive but worth it ! What limited your ability to perform faster: A bit of the cold & wind, a bit of stiffness in back from Triathlon 2 weeks before. OF course biggest reason is training. I put in a lot more effort and improve by 6' but expected more and was very sore. Event comments: I was a little disappointed in bands/music this year. This is still a great race & a must do. The excitement/magic of running with 30k is so cool. Last updated: 2009-12-24 12:00 AM

Drove over Friday, went to motel, convention center, carry out Lasagna. I was asleep by 10:30 & up at 4:40. Went to lobby and could not find coffee, back to room & Lynn made coffee. Shower , shave , dress, etc. Went down stairs, had to wait for Starbucks to open at 5:30, motel breakfast not till 6:30. Cup of coffee at Starbucks, cliff bar , water & gatorade.
None other than 6 block or so walk to race and going to porta potties 2x. I waited till last minute to get in corral as it was cold. I had ducked in parking garage for heat. Made small talk in corral for 10 minutes till start.
