Swim
Comments: I was able to draft for a long time off this guy that I saw swimming next to me. I kept trying to pull away from him but he would keep up...so I decided to slow down and get behind him since he seemed to be sighting good and have a nice easy swim. I think I drafted for about 400m or so and then we rounded a buoy and this guy pushed me out of my way so he could draft...I was on my own after that. It was a nice break. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Transition was just as planned. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I had two flats within 400y of each other on my last of 3 laps. The first flat was on the back tire and was a slow leak...I jumped off and hand pumped the tire to rideable conditions hoping that it would last for the next 8 miles. 400y later the front tire blew. I changed out the front tube and considered changing the back while I was at it but then just decided to top it off and take off again. With 4 miles left I had to stop and fill the back tire up again to rideable conditions and was able to make it the remaining 4 miles without having to change the tire (luckily/barely). What would you do differently?: Get new rims since these rims seem to be causing so many flats. Transition 2
Comments: A very nice transition but slower than expected...at this point I knew my race was over and I was just doing the steps to finish. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Could have started out a lot faster but I was down in the dumps with the flat tire issues. By the time I was about 4 miles into the run the outside temp was around 95 to 100. I was dying of heat exhaust and wasn't able to perform. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Nothing What limited your ability to perform faster: Flat tires. Event comments: I didn't stick around since I had to go to church right after the race so I don't really know what the post race activities were like...I never even got my race shirt. Last updated: 2005-11-01 12:00 AM

I parked on the wrong side of the bridge and had to bike across to get to the bike transition area to set up...I barely made it in time to get ready for the start of the race.
Normal stretching.
