Pre-race routine:

Event warmup:

walked around, went to bathroom and then found KP; did some light stretching and lined up for start
Run

  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

started out a little fast, but not too fast. pace was good. light knee pain around mile 3. ran ahead of 9 min/mile goal pace majority of race. slowed down between miles 9 and 12. average pace stayed good. sped up last mile and sprinted approx. last .1 mile. it felt good to leave it all out there. had a great finish i'm very proud of.
What would you do differently?:

not much. i trained hard and ran hard.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around the expo and got some goodies. drank tons of fluids. didn't feel right immediately afterwards, but after i got some fluids in me, i felt tons better. i was a little sore, but overall i felt great post-race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

i wouldn't have wanted to complete any faster for my first half. but i guess more training and experience in this distance limited my performance

Event comments:

a little disorganized, but better than others i've done. overall, this was a good event.
