Swim
Comments: I felt I did pretty well for the swim despite the fact that some woman was hitting me and pushing my feet down for much of the first 330 yards. I finally started kicking to let her know "to back off". I was worried about the men in my wave but it turned out that it was women who I needed to do some battle with :) I was actually surprised when my watch said I was under 16 minutes as I felt more winded during this swim. My goggles didn't fog for the first time ever in a race! Spit does work! What would you do differently?: Maybe position myself better though it was hard to do as we were blocked in on one side by the dock. Transition 1
Comments: I don't usually pay to much attention to transitions in terms of comparing times since all transition areas are different sizes and where I am in relation to the in and out areas always change. I felt things went well except for having a bit of trouble getting my bike off the rack due to someone putting there tri bag up against my front wheel. What would you do differently?: Not allow people who arrive late to invade my small area? Bike
Comments: I feel pretty good about the bike portion. Considering I didn't know the course and haven't been training like I should for the past two weeks, I was very happy with this. There were some areas where passing wasn't an option due to traffic or cone placement. What would you do differently?: hmm.. not sure about this. Transition 2
Comments: I wear prescription sunglasses. I dropped the glasses and the inserts fell out. That took a few seconds to fix and clean. Run
Comments: I fell apart on the run. It was very hot, and I just didn't have it in me today. I walked up one hill, walked the aid stations where I poured water on my head and stopped to stretch out my painful shin. While my time was much slower then I had hoped I guess I must have been running a tad bit faster then previous sprint tris as that time would have been much worse considering all the walking I did. What would you do differently?: I don't know. It has been suggested that I might be pushing to hard on the bike. While I know that used to be the case, I have made a conscious effort to try and avoid burning out my legs on the bike. I am competitive with myself on the bike so I suppose I could be pushing to hard but I don't think that was the case in this instance. I am a slow runner. It is always the hardest event for me. Today it was just that much harder. Some lack of training over the past two weeks probably played a part in this. Post race
Warm down: They had water soaked towels for us at the finish which was great. I put it on my head and walked around like that for 10 minutes. It was the best part of the whole day! Found some members of the Parker Tri Club and planted myself underneath their canapy. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, training, overly tired or a combination of all three. Event comments: I was very intimidated about racing in Boulder. It was nice to hear that there were 300 first timers at this race. Somehow I doubt that will be the case at the next two races. Gulp. Secured my spot in transtion. Visited with Steve (StMaas).
Warmed up a bit in the water. Nothing really worth noting.
