Run
Comments: Started off strong, and felt good. The hill climbing over Rte 128 started my troubles (muscle exhaustion), and then the hills at Wellesley did me in. The race is like no other - screaming fans along nearly the entire course. In Welesley & Boston College, you can hear and feel the excitement before seeing the fans. What would you do differently?: Train more in the 20-25 mile runs. Only did a long of 18, and did not know what to expect, or how to deal with exhaustion with still miles to go. Post race
Warm down: Walked thru various areas to get some food, an aluminum blank wrap, medal, and my checked clothes bag. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training in long (20-25 mile) distances. Event comments: If someone wants to do a Marathon, make it Boston. Like no other race. Typical breakfast - coffee, english muffin, hard-boiled egg, banana. Left at 5:45 with Maureen (CRR) to catch charter bus in Braintree for ride to Hopkinton. Had another banana, gatorade, cheerios. (Scheduled race start 10:30/10:45 for my race number group.)
Walked around Athlete Village, did some stretching.
