Pre-race routine:

Rolled my ankle pretty good on Sunday so I haven't run since Sunday.

Woke up and saw snow on the ground so it was going to be a good day. Ate a bagel, yogurt and nature valley bar. Did a 10 minute jog to warm up about 20 minutes before the race.

Comments:

Gun went off and I started running. I took it out a little faster than I thought I should be going because I tend to misjudge my speed initially. First mile went by in 7:48. I thought I had been running faster than that so that was surprising. My calves started to tighten a ton and I thought I slowed down a lot but 2nd mile went by in 7:51. Not too bad. I kind of just maintained the pace for the 3rd mile and it went by in 7:47. I started feeling strong in the 4th mile and that went by in 7:53, a little surprising. I was completely dead on the last mile and managed a 7:54.

Nice and consistent at least.

Event comments:

Well my first sub 8:00/mile race. I was very happy. I was a little concerned when I rolled my ankle on Sunday but it was fine the whole time. I manged to drop 2:30 from last years time so that was a nice drop.
