Swim
Comments: This was a choppy swim, apparently, the course was changed a couple of waves after mine due to conditions, not sure if it was shotener or just rearranged. What would you do differently?: swim more, esp OWS Transition 1
Comments: Had to take a breather after that swim. Walked a couple of times en route to my bike. What would you do differently?: Practice suit off (ankles stuck) Bike
What would you do differently?: Mainly turn back for anything dropped and lose 1 min rather than risk a 6 min penalty. Although I felt I had enough fluids, I think I may have had more energy on my system in prep for the run. Transition 2
Comments: ended up racking bike on opposite end of the rack and had to run around it to get my gear. Avg change speed. Same long run/short exit What would you do differently?: Remember the side where my gear is located. I didnt have an issue finding my rack but with the side. Run
Comments: I was beat by the time I got to T2 but kept the course, I had to walk 20-25 yds a 4-5 times during the first 2 miles, although this added time, it allowed me to find the right pace for today. I had set GPS for 9:30 pace and thou I could keep it for the first half, I couldnt on half 2, no sweat! I didnt even have enough energy for a final kick as I usually do. What would you do differently?: Drink more energy fluids on the bike. This turned into a mind over matter mind game. Post race
Warm down: cold towel over head, and lg gatorade bottle. 10 min massage, followed by 2 slices of pizza, some OJ and some other snacks. Ah, 2 Ultras. What limited your ability to perform faster: energy Event comments: what a difference can good organization do for an event!!! These guys run a well oiled machine Last updated: 2010-01-04 12:00 AM

went to bed around 9:30 and up by 3:00AM had everything organized so it was just a get up and go morning. Got to race site at 4:30 or so, met with Boom and Sally and after scouting the swim area we went to T for body markings, inflating tires and getting setup. This was odd for both of us as it seemed too simple. But turned out to be right. Went back to Swim start (about 1 mi from T) and pracaticed a few yards to get warmed up. Boom's wave was coming up as I came out of the water, just went there and wished him good luck; Javier was on the same wave.
Not too much. Considering the haul (excessive) I was carrying, and the mi (each way) walk was pretty much a warmup.
