0.25 mi walk to the start. Standing around doing the "Pre-race, Try Not to Freeze Shuffle".

Comments:

I really feel like I ran the perfect race. Timed my gels perfectly. Drinking was great too. I was a little worried that I was pushing myself too hard during the first half, but in retrospect, I probably could have pushed a little harder. I decided to push the rollers and that worked out well. My strategy was to pick it up at the 10 mile mark. I went a little too hard, but my kick in at the end was awesome.

I grabbed my medal and a bottle of water and made my way back to the chute just in time to see Meg finish (1:56:47!). I then dragged her into the bar next to the finish for a free beer.

I was initially worried about the rain, but it worked out really well in terms of temperature control. I didn't consider the chaffing it would cause though. My right nipple is none too happy with me right now.

Also, once you stop running, 50°, rainy weather is !@%#ing cold! Heading into the warm bar staved off the cold initially, but once we were back outside it hit us hard. We were both shivering. Meg's lips turned blue. It was a long cold ride back to the hotel
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder in the beginning. Lube up the nips. Bring a change of clothes.
Post race
Warm down:

Beer and shivering back to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was just about perfect for this race. The only thing that could have made the run better was a bigger base.

Event comments:

The course was tough but fun. There were tons of volunteer and what looked like a ton of free food/drinks at the end. Nice looking finisher medals too. I would have enjoyed the post race a lot more if I hadn't been borderline hypothermic. The organizers can't control the weather though. I'll definitely be back next year to hopefully experience the post race properly.

Course: The first half of the course is a steady climb up Rt. 11 with a few small down hills. There was a steep descent at mile 7 that I picked up some time on (I may or may not have died if I tripped...). The last few miles were back on Rt. 11 for a gradual down hill to the finish.
