Overcast
Total Time = 1h 16m 28s
Overall Rank = 37/1590
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 5/246
Pre-race routine:

Oatmeal at home, water in the car, Luna bar while waiting, meant to grab a banana but forgot.
Event warmup:

none, too cold to swim and stand around for an hour. Tried to stay off my feet and use the bathroom right before getting in line for our wave to start.
Swim
  • 10m 13s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not as good of a start as last year. Attempted a dophin dive push off the bottom, really too slipper to be effective. Another swimmer kept up with me almost to the first bouy. Plenty of swim arounds, only one complete stop.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure why time was so far off. Can the wetsuit really make that much of a difference?
Transition 1
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

Actually ran barefoot with shoes in pedals. Strap stuck on right shoe. Otherwise pretty smooth sailing. It was so nice not to have to run in bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

double check the straps when setting up transition.
Bike
  • 39m 40s
  • 14.29 miles
  • 21.62 mile/hr
Comments:

only real complications was the individual that decided that she missed the turn after her second lap and cut to the left at a 90 degree angle straight in front of me as I am cruising in aero. A little screaming and braking and continued on my way. Can't really fault her though, they did a terrible job of informing bikers of the turnoff.
What would you do differently?:

keep focused
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Would have been nice if I didn't have people loitering around my bike, but whatever.
Run
  • 23m 15s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Grabbed a drink of HEED off the bike. No drinking on the run. It always seems to slow me down. Can't believe I still broke 8 min/mile even with my knee problems.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder. I had way too much to give at the end.
Post race
Warm down:

walk to car, drop off bike, walk back. Missed the raffle.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training - my knee

Event comments:

Wish they would have had better communication for the second lap on the bike.
