Run
Comments: The weather was near perfect for this event. It did start to rain as we began the climb up the 'pen. I would probably call it more of a heavy misting. There were water stops which was good since I elected not to carry with me this year. Ran along side and with many friends during the race. Group suffering is the best! What would you do differently?: This is the second time I've run this event and the first where it went to the top. It, to me, is more of a bucket list event than a training opportunity. A couple of spots I elected to walk instead of run and found I was just as efficient in my current state of fitness. I might drop back just a little bit of effort in the run leading up to the climb, but not much. Post race
Warm down: Sucked wind. Grabbed some water and found my car! I wanted off that rock ASAP. Next stop, beer town. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to drop a few more lbs and some additional hill training could help. I didn't treat this as a real race though so I'm not sure this is important to my goals. Event comments: You come to Hogpen because of the nature of it. Some come to race, others to check off a box on their list. Regardless, it's a freaky fun event and I applaud all of those who run it. Last updated: 2010-01-06 12:00 AM

Drank a protein smoothie for breakfast and drank some Nuun and munched a chia seed muffin on the way over to the race.
Met friends and shot the breeze.
