Swim
Comments: First open water race so tried to start closer to the back, but misjudged how many people were still behind me and was closer to the middle. Settled into my pace fairly quickly, but got boxed in by some slower swimmers just past the half way mark and couldn't get past til close to the final 100m What would you do differently?: Try to be more aware of others so I don't get boxed in and work on becoming a faster swimmer! Transition 1
Comments: Long way from the water to T1 (quickest time was about 2:45). Ran down the wrong rack but thankfully spotted my bike and was able to go under the rack to get to it. Still taking too long. What would you do differently?: Be better aware of where my transition spot is Bike
Comments: Pushed pretty hard and felt my left calf almost cramp at the end of the first lap so eased off a little. Unfortunately my right calf did cramp up at almost exactly the same spot on the second lap. Thankfully had enough speed to coast until I could uncramp. Overtook a lot of people on the uphills, even people who flew past me on the flats. What would you do differently?: Work out what caused the cramp and take measures to avoid it happening again Transition 2
Comments: Made the same mistake in T2 and went down wrong isle! Run
Comments: Left knee started to hurt a bit about 1.5k into the run so slowed down a little which helped. Tried to speed up again at 2k, but pain came back so backed off again. Bit of a sprint to the finish line. What would you do differently?: Not a lot. Paced myself as well as my knee would allow Post race
Warm down: Some water to rehydrate, some stretching and walking around What limited your ability to perform faster: Being a slow swimmer and cramping on the bike. Event comments: Overall a very good event though a little hectic with the sheer number of people (competitors and spectators) Last updated: 2010-01-07 12:00 AM

Gave the bike a quick once over to make sure everything was working as it should be.
