![]() Run
Comments: I can never keep these things short, so here it goes. I had not run any distance for 3 weeks due to a foot injury of some sort. I fought through an 11 mile run with my foot, but that was 3 weeks prior to the race. I knew I was trained, but was unsure of how my body would hold up after 3 weeks. All week I told myself to aim for 10 minute miles. I knew in the back of my head that come race day, I was going to try to finish in 2:05 (the time of my first and only 1/2 prior to this). I started out right at 9:30 on mile 1 and kept that pace for the entire race. It felt good for the first 7 miles. I was pushing a bit but not too much. But about mile 7 I started to crash. It was like I hit the wall...but in a 1/2 marathon. My energy was gone and my legs were getting very tired. I feel this was the result of no distance running for 3 weeks and trying to push a little too hard under the circumstances. I took it mile by mile and somehow fought through without slowing my pace much. The miles seemed to pass quickly which is good when you're in pain. Before I knew it we were running through the tunnel into Labmeau Field and the finish line was right outside of Lambeau. My family was there for me at the finish. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Very unsteady on my feet so quick grabbed some fruit and a bagel, water, gatorade, chocolate milk and sat down. Event comments: You can't go wrong with the Cellcom. You can count on lots of volunteers, water stations, fans, support. The community is really into it, too. Last updated: 2010-01-07 12:00 AM
