Run
Comments: I can never keep these things short, so here it goes. I had not run any distance for 3 weeks due to a foot injury of some sort. I fought through an 11 mile run with my foot, but that was 3 weeks prior to the race. I knew I was trained, but was unsure of how my body would hold up after 3 weeks. All week I told myself to aim for 10 minute miles. I knew in the back of my head that come race day, I was going to try to finish in 2:05 (the time of my first and only 1/2 prior to this). I started out right at 9:30 on mile 1 and kept that pace for the entire race. It felt good for the first 7 miles. I was pushing a bit but not too much. But about mile 7 I started to crash. It was like I hit the wall...but in a 1/2 marathon. My energy was gone and my legs were getting very tired. I feel this was the result of no distance running for 3 weeks and trying to push a little too hard under the circumstances. I took it mile by mile and somehow fought through without slowing my pace much. The miles seemed to pass quickly which is good when you're in pain. Before I knew it we were running through the tunnel into Labmeau Field and the finish line was right outside of Lambeau. My family was there for me at the finish. Post race
Warm down: Very unsteady on my feet so quick grabbed some fruit and a bagel, water, gatorade, chocolate milk and sat down. Event comments: You can't go wrong with the Cellcom. You can count on lots of volunteers, water stations, fans, support. The community is really into it, too. Last updated: 2010-01-07 12:00 AM
