Swim
Comments: I was actually surprised at how fast I was moving. I should of put down a faster swim time to avoid passing so many slower people, but at the time I registered, I didn't think I would go this fast. Only a couple of spots where I got caught up by slower swimmers or by people on the wall. What would you do differently?: Put my seed time in as a faster time to avoid passing so many people. Transition 1
Comments: It wasn't a bad transition. I would still like to be a little faster and there are some things I can do to do that. This transition was probably one of my better ones too. What would you do differently?: Buy some tri shoes with only one strap and eventually learn how to put them on the bike. Practice this transition more. Bike
Comments: I think I needed to adjust my gears but I did it the night before and it was working just fine. When I was riding, it was having a hard time up shifing. What would you do differently?: Make sure my gears are properly adjusted and get in to an easier gear for a few of the hills Transition 2
Comments: I was a frozen stiff corpse. I could not feel any body on me because of how cold it had been on the bike course. This made it difficult to use my fingers to do normal things like take my helmet off and put my shoes on. It didn't help that I had to tie my shoes also. What would you do differently?: Need to get some speed elastic laces to just slide my shoes on. Run
Comments: The hill was the easiest part because my body was still frozen and I could push as hard as I wanted with out feeling anything. I realized after thawing out, that I was actually feeling pretty good and pushed this run quite a bit. This is my first ever 5k under 20 mins which is a goal of mine. The best part was that it was in a triathlon and not just an individual running race. What would you do differently?: I don't think anything. I passed a couple people at the end and was really satisfied overall with my run performance. Post race
Warm down: Put warm clothes on quickly and go inside to get some food and drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: The cold was the biggest limiting factor. If it had been even just a little warm it would of been a little easier I think to do do some of the normal things I needed to do. Event comments: Results were slow this year and food at the end was as extravagant as lasts years event. Last updated: 2010-01-08 12:00 AM

Pack all my stuff up the night before. Wake up in the morning at about 5:15 am. Ate some frosted flakes, put all my stuff in the car and drove the 25 mins over to the race site. I prefer to get there earlier to make sure I can get an end rack spot, even with the racks being assigned by groups of numbers.
I really didn't warm up. I did some light stretching and then it was time to go.
