Pre-race routine:

Up at 5am. Made my p-nut butter bagel and grabbed a banana. Found out my bike carrier was missing a bolt when I went to load the bike and had to search for a replacement. Got that fixed but was rushing and forgot my water bottle. Didn't realize until I was out of the neighborhood and had to return home to get it. Bad way to start off the day. Got everything set up in TA and went looking for BTers.
Event warmup:

A little stretching and walking around talking to folks.
Swim
  • 05m 46s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

Weak swim. Got passed and passed one so that took additional time.
What would you do differently?:

Need more time in the pool and some OWS time. Once a week for 30 minutes is not enough.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

No problems but T1 seemed slow. Slightly faster than last year.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transitions before next race.
Bike
  • 37m 17s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Fast course. This is the first race that I was able to maintain 20 mph.
What would you do differently?:

Great race but I need hill work bad to prepare for future races with big hills later this season.
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Very good T2 no problems.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 24m 41s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Really concentrated on keeping good form even during the first 1/2 mile when my legs were weak. This was my fastest tri 5K and contributed greatly to my new PR for this race. No one passed me so I didn't have a carrot to run after. Great result but I think I could have done better if pushed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing much.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some food and water and headed to the RTC race tent to see who was there. Donna and the crew made us feel at home and catered to our every need. Drinks, and comfotable camp chair, and later on, grilled hot dogs. Thanks RTC!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Genetics and lack of training. Oh, and a cervelo P3 with ZIPP wheels.

Event comments:

This is a great beginner sprint race and early season race. It really lets you know how well training has gone during the off season. Weather is usually good, not too hot and not too cold.
