Pre-race routine:

I got up at 6 am. Had my usual breakfast; 2 toasts with peanut butter and jam and a small coffee.
Event warmup:

Found a spot, prepared my stuff and put my wetsuit on. Went swimming a bit before the race, the water was soo cold...
Swim
  • 18m 29s
  • 700 meters
  • 02m 38s / 100 meters
Comments:

I started off too fast. I'm usually in mid pack on the swim leg but on this race, the hole pack was way faster then me! I was swimming with elite triathletes with their body full of muscles! ;-)
What would you do differently?:

Practice more. I haven't swim enough this spring.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

My transition was a little slow. I took my time to let my HR come down. I usually go faster but I just didn't feel top shape getting out of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more my transition and maybe try getting into shoes on the bike without socks!
Bike
  • 1h 12m 50s
  • 30 kms
  • 24.71 km/hr
Comments:

I'm very happy with my time considering the hills. This was a PR for me in a triathlon.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I did a good bike race. I will keep on training to improve the speed!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

My transition was pretty good. I felt the legs were tired...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing it was a good transition.
Run
  • 53m 51s
  • 8 kms
  • 06m 44s  min/km
Comments:

I ran my best. I'm happy with my time and I was able to finish strong on an uphill. I didn't have much competition half way through the race but it doesn't matter, I was racing myself and I had a PR on the run leg over all my past triathlon. Good job :-)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was well prepared for the 8k run. I will keep on working out to improve my speed!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a little and talk to my only fan that was left at the finish line when I got there, my better half :-) Stretched and got some left over from the buffet... (all the racing machines got all the good stuff before me!) he he

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need more training!

Event comments:

Like I said, it would be a good idea to have more markers along the bike and run course. There wasn't enough volunteers and they shouldn't leave their stations before the last participant has past. When I ran up to the last drinking station, the water glasses were on the table with nobody around! There was nobody at the drinking station! I felt abandonned on my run course but I didn't give up! ;-) I just hoped that the finish line was still up when I would get there! he he
