Pre-race routine:

Left home at 5am to get there for 7:40am. Got my kit, found a spot in transition, got in my wetsuit 20 minutes before the start and went in the water for warmup.
Event warmup:

Swam a bit around the start area.
Swim
  • 40m 33s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 42s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim was great. I started at the end so I would'nt get trap in the middle of the pack. Started slow and got faster all the way to the finish. Passed quite a few people...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I really enjoyed the swim part!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition was preatty fast, I felt good coming out of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Continue practicing my transition
Bike
  • 1h 41m 53s
  • 40 kms
  • 23.56 km/hr
Comments:

Went good but no shade. The last 10k, I started to feel the heat... The sun was getting high and it was hot. There was no porta potties on the course, I had to stop on the side of the road..
What would you do differently?:

I will get a second bottle rack so I have extra water with me.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition, went pretty fast.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more my transition
Run
  • 1h 21m 56s
  • 10 kms
  • 08m 11s  min/km
Comments:

I was very dehydrated when I finished the run. I was hot and so tired! The run took me 15 minutes more then what I planned. I took my time because it was so hot that I didn't want to overheat.
What would you do differently?:

On hot weather, have more to drink on the bike and on the run course.
Post race
Warm down:

When in the river to try and cool down. Stretched a little in the shade and came back home. Drank 2 litres of water the 3 hours following the race to rehydrate myself.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat. I wasn't trained to race in hot weather like that. It was really tough!

Event comments:

Lots of volunters, they were great! Could of have more drinking stations on the run but it was still ok. Very well organized! The only bad thing was the post-race lunch... bagels and bananas.. that's it! Really disapointing! Tough race but I'm very happy with my results! My first Oly, I did pretty well!
