Overall Rank = 96/229
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 13/30
Pre-race routine:

1/2 bowl of Cheerios, a banana and 12 oz or Cranergy
Swim
  • 19m 30s
  • 800 yards
  • 02m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pretty crowded start. Started away from the pier this year to avoid the crush, but must have stopped 10 times after running into people.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Possibly push a little harder.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Forgot my biking shoes at home, and had the wife bring them to me along with the water bottle I forgot. Spent some extra time getting the laces tied and velcro'd in.
What would you do differently?:

Must have lost 15-20 seconds finding the shoes and getting them on. I will remember them next time.
Bike
  • 34m 39s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Decent ride. Passed a few but did not get passed by anyone on a mountain bike. I was pleased with my time based on the amount of training I put in.
What would you do differently?:

Not drink so much.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

My goal was to improve the run and T2 this year. T2 was much improved over last year. Bike rack collapsed when I uunloaded, and just laid the bike under the rack while going for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Find a better place for the bike.
Run
  • 29m 58s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Had very bad calf cramps in both legs at the start of the run, and was barely moving. By mile 2, I hit my stride and actually passed a few people. I was running very hard from the K of C hall to the finish line which was my goal. Should I have started running hard at the 2 mile marker?
What would you do differently?:

Start running harder at the two mile marker next year. Broke 30 minutes for the first time.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some water, 1/2 bagel, and 1/2 banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing.

Event comments:

As always this is well staffed(more than last year), and the competition is very good. Can't wait until next year.
