Pre-race routine:

Up and at it about 5am...porridge w/milk and honey washed down with some water. Banana on the way to the race.
Event warmup:

Today was not a pleasant day...windy, rainy...so the warm up was about 1/2 mile out and back.

Went out at a decent paced then slowed a little on the way back. Good balance overall though.
What would you do differently?:

Having not run enough this year due to a knee injury I would say I just need to work on running generally...speed work maybe!

Transition was a little slow due to the weather, but otherwise ok...I just screwed up clipping into the pedals...twice! Probably ended up costing me 15 secs and a place.
What would you do differently?:

Get my feet clipped in better!

Went out too hard early trying to catch people I could see and ended up suffering for it later.

Just train with more speed work...time spent riding hard.

Walked around...had a beer, some watermelon, cookies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Early year knee injury killing running speed.

Not clipping into pedals cleanly.

Tried to keep an even pace...thankfully there was a guy close to me that was running a decent pace...so I kept side by side with him for the run (he blew me away on the bike though). HR maxed at about 182 on the uphill to the end of the run.
Course: Rolling hills and sweeping bends...nice course but not nice weather.

Windy, rainy, tough! Passed several people early and generally went out a little too fast. Ended up being passed by one guy which was ok...and the one guy who finished the run just before me got going and disappeared over the horizon.
