Comments: I know Im not a strong swimmer, but I got out of the water strong and felt good Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Oh where to begin, this is where my race took a terrible turn to tragedy. In the first two miles or so my aero bar came loose and was shifting on me, eventually I gave up trying to make it wright and just rode it the way it was. this went well until about mile 9 I went to shift to start and climb and snap the shifter broke. I am using the new R2C by SRAM, I could only shift into a smaller ring in the cassette so I was stuck and couldn't climb the hill I was on so I got off and tried to fix it but couldn't. I gathered my pride and went back about at half mile to the last volunteer corner and had him radio a race official. The race sent a SAG wagon out to me and the guy said I can lock your derailur in one gear so I could finish the race. I elected to have him put it in the middle of my cassette so at least I could pedal some and still could shift in my crank. After all said and done I spent about a 25 minutes off my bike fixing it. Hit some hills after the fix that would have been nice then hit a steep section that was either continue and make it to the top or fall, I made it. Finished the ride out and legs were toast. To put the icing on the cake as i stepped on the time mat that was wet my cleat shot out from under me and I ended up on my face, but I kept my bike up What would you do differently?: have shifters that work Transition 2
Comments: despite my previously mentioned fall I feel I had a decent transition. Was extremely frustrated when I got to my rack and lost my cool spiked my helmet and just yelled (obscenity) luckily nobody penalized me, but I think they would have done the same given my current situation. What would you do differently?: not fall Run
Comments: decent took about a mile to simmer my head from the bike but put it behind me and kept my legs moving Post race
Warm down: walked around What limited your ability to perform faster: bike Event comments: I gave my self a high mental effort just because I kept going. Wanted to pack it in after the bike just because of frustration and legs were exhausted Last updated: 2010-01-11 12:00 AM
