Pre-race routine:

Woke up, had coffee, grabbed a Clif Bar and left for the race. Tried to eat the clif bar but could only eat one bite. Got to site, found Renee (and her ex Brian), Jeff (f150mco) and his friend Terri, and then Sue.
Then Renee and I got in line with the other 20 or so racers and off we went.
Event warmup:

Nada.

Comments:

I forgot my gels in my car so I just ate at the aid stations. There were 4 stations and 2 of them were unmanned so I had to stop and pour my own Gatorade. I spent about 1 minute at each station. I was out there to just have a long run so I wasn't concerned with being fast at the stations. I had to put some Vaseline on my inner thighs at the 5.3 mile station. This is the part where I complain about gaining weight and my thighs rubbing together. Whine whine. Also, the course was very lonely, so I talked a bit with the volunteer at the 2 manned stations. Saw Jeff and Terri at station #3 and chatted with them for a bit.
I ate some m&m's, some pretzels, and some cookies. They didn't have any gels. Had a cup of coke at the last station. My feet were cramping again today like they did at Miami Man. Not good.
Let's see...what else? Stopped to pee at one point. Good thing about a teeny tiny race like this is you can just stop at the side of the trail and no-one is around.
When I had about 2.5 miles to go I really tried to pick up the pace because I realized that I was doing REALLY BAD. I think I did the last 2.5 miles in about 20 minutes which just shows you how little gas I had left in my tank. I was close to LT for most of that last 2.5 miles. Ugh. I just couldn't go fast. My feet and calf started cramping at about the 10 mile mark. Not as bad as Miami Man, though. Talked with a lady after the race who used to have a similar problem and she gave me some good advice.
Despite the slowness, I really did enjoy myself. I was smiling for most of the race. I kept reminding myself that there was nowhere else I would rather be than out running the trail. The weather was beautiful, I had a great time listening to all my new music that I have downloaded since Xmas, and for the first half of the race I felt quite good. No better way to spend a morning. :)

What would you do differently?:

Not forget my gels. Eat breakfast. Not talk so much at the aid stations.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate more cookies and drank gatorade while waiting for Renee to finish. Talked with Sue and Jeff and Terri. Sue helped me work out my cramps AGAIN like she did at Miami Man. And didn't even complain about my unshaved legs. :)
Once Renee finished we all went out to lunch and I ate a pile of food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sick. Being fat. Being slow.

Event comments:

I love this race. I had a bad day out there, but I still love this race. I did it last year and will do it again next year. I love how small it is. I love that you have to time yourself. I love that you have to serve yourself at the aid stations. I love the trail. I love seeing the ultra runners (50K and 50 mile). Its just fun. I'm glad Renee had a GREAT race and that Sue had a GREAT race. Glad Jeff and Terri came out. :) I'm trying not to hate myself for being so slow.

I kept my heart rate in zone 3 until about mile 6.5. Then I started trying to get up into zone 4. Stayed mostly in low zone 4 for the last 5 miles.
Course: Almost entirely dirt/sand trail. Fun course. Flat. Out and back with a lollipop loop in the middle.
