Run
Comments: It was very cold, and I probably overdressed. I started taking things off by mile 2, but was pretty comfortable once I got down to just my shirts and wind-breaker vest. I wore long running tights. Went out pretty fast even though it didn't feel that fast with everyone around me going the same pace! Really pretty run, and the sunshine was wonderful! First half seemed to drag, but once I passed the 7 mile marker it seemed to fly by. Worst part was about 2 miles on brick streets, ugh! The winning marathoner came past us at about mile 11. I was really pleased with my pace and felt like I kept it pretty steady. My feet were hurting by mile 10 and my left foot and calf were threatening cramps the last 2 miles, but I was able to keep running. I walked through the water stops, but other than that ran the whole thing! Nutrition seemed to work well. What would you do differently?: Nothing, for my first I was very happy with my results and beat my personal goal to come in under 2:30. Maybe wear a few less clothes! Post race
Warm down: None, walking to the food tent! What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I went as fast as I am capable right now, so with more training, the time should get better. Event comments: This was great fun... it was certainly a challenge and I'm sure I'm going to feel it tomorrow, BUT I loved it! I felt strong and capable, NOT a poser at all! I liked this distance, hope to do more of them, but not soon! Last updated: 2010-01-14 12:00 AM

Drove up the day before with Tammy (BT'er TTucker) and got to our hotel, just about 6-7 blocks from the Expo tent and the race start and met my future sister-in-law there. We went to the Expo and picked up our packets, no lines! We had not had any lunch, so eating was a priority. We went to a diner, but only had an appetizer because the food was pretty fried. Then we went to an Italian place and had some really good pasta. Went back to the Expo tent one more time, then back to the hotel and we were in bed by 9:00. I got up at 5:15 and got dressed, went down the the nearest Starbucks for coffee and oatmeal since our cheapie hotel did not have an in-room coffee pot(?). We hung out in the room till about 7:00 a.m. then walked down to the race start. Used the porta-pottie twice and waited for our corral to get to the start line. Corral 1 went off right at 7:30, it was about 7:50 when we crossed the start line. (We were in the LARD @$$ corral).
None, just walking to the race start and trying to keep warm, it was COLD!
