Comments:

I did the bike leg for our relay. There were some super fast swimmers today with one of them being on a friendly rival team.

This is our club's first time putting on a triathlon. Got to bed at 11pm got up at 3am. Went and set up transition and getting everything ready for tri. Wow, there are a lot of little details in putting one of these on.

Finally got everything ready and watched the swim start. I knew we'd give up a little time in the water. First swimmer comes out and it's was the other relay. Ok, that was expected. More swimmers come out including the favorite to win overall. Seconds seemed like minutes as I wait. I should have had a watch so I could keep time better. Pat comes out, after posting a nice swim time, and I get the chip from him and take off.

I knew I needed to make up time heading out of town and on the few hills on the course. I hit the corners aggressively and hammer the straights. Headed out of town and pass Scott here. I forgot to count how many in front of my, but I picked off a couple on the way to the turnaround. My speed was good and not a lot of wind. Legs felt pretty good. I get closer and closer to the turnaround and nobody was coming back yet. Just before the turnaround I see all 3 bikers in front of me.

I made a quick turnaround, but didn't get into a low enough gear to really hammer it out of the turnaround. I do some quick shifting and take off. I passed the other team's rider. I knew then that they wouldn't be a factor.

I set my sights on the 2 riders left up ahead. They are spaced so they are not drafting, but no further apart than that. At the 2nd hill after the turnaround, I count and see that I'm was 15 seconds behind the 2 riders. I know one of the riders and know he is strong. Headed up the road riding hard. Count again at the base of the overpass and saw I was about 12 seconds behind. I start thinking, maybe we'd just have to catch them in transition.

Right after the overpass, I noticed I made up some time going up that little hill. Hmmm....maybe I have a shot at this. I knew there were at least 2 more little hills that I could make up some time. Hit the first and get closer. Made the turn on the road to head back into town and think "you don't have to run today, GO GET THEM!!!"

One more little hill and I catch the 2nd rider. Make the pass and set my sights on Rosen(the overall favorite.) I know he has to run after this, so figure I will get him. Nice little push here and I pass him just as the road gets a little rough. Headed back into town hit the corners hard again, not wanting to give up the top spot.

Roll to the dismount line and jump off a little fast. I came in a little hotter than I thought. Really had to have fast turnover of the legs to keep from falling.

Gary takes the chip off my ankle and takes off and comes back first.
What would you do differently?:

Faster than my TT's with a longer distance and having to go through town. I rocked this bike, which I should since it's my home course and I was doing relay.
