Run
Comments: I felt a bit sluggish this morning. I think being sick and the long ride yesterday may have contributed to my blah feeling. I planned, more like decided at the start line, on running 8 minute miles. After mile 2, I was counting the miles. I had no snap in my legs and it was getting warm in the already humid conditions. In a race, once you start looking for the mile markers, you are officially in survival mode. I was in a semi-bad place with an hour still to go. No biggie. I pushed through it and figured it could not get any worse today. There is no better feeling than working through a tough race or workout. When you feel good, everything seems effortless and easy. It is the tough ones that make you stronger. What would you do differently?: I cannot say I would not race, but maybe I would run a little slower if I was sick the week before. I don't know. If I had to do it again, I would probably race just as hard. Post race
Warm down: Drank gatorade, ate a banana, sipped on R4 and waited for the rest of the guys to come in. Later on, Billy, Mari and I went out for breakfast at a little bagel place in Palmetto Bay. It was a great morning and a fantastic start to the day. Kudos to Billy for running this first 9+ miles. Congrats to Mari for placing 1st in her AG. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick during the week. Event comments: I liked the setup and the course. I would definitely do this race again. Last updated: 2005-11-18 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:00AM. Prepared my bag and waited for Billy and this wife, Mari, to pick me up. Walked outside a little bit while Billy made his way to my house. Met up with Alfredo A at packet pickup and walked over to the start.
Not much. Minimal stretching and just walked from the parking lot to the start area.
