Pre-race routine:

This was not a main race for me and since I decided to sign up last minute, I just had a normal day for me. Race was at 1:30pm so I got up and ate breakfast with my 2 boys then had a powerbar for lunch arond 12. Other then that I didn't do any preperation.
Event warmup:

It was chilly and I was late getting there so I hurried to register then waited for the start for 15 minutes.

Comments:

The run was awesome! This was my first outdoor run since my half marathon in December. I've lost 18 lbs since that last race by spending 8-9 hours a week on the elliptical trainer. I wasn't sure how that training would transfer over, but it transferred great! I've never ran in the 7 minute range and was shocked to rip off a 7:22 pace.

Warm down:

Once across the line, I had a water and a banana then waited on a few other to finish. Then 3 of us ran the course in the opposite direction as a cool down. Ran at a 9:45 pace for recovery. Once we finished the 2nd lap we went and watched the awards.

Event comments:

This is a really good 8K race. I will definitely run this one next year. It's nice that it starts at 1:30pm in the afternoon so that it doesn't require me to wake up at the crack of dawn to run.
