Pre-race routine:

Being my first triathlon I wasn't sure what to do...so got up at 5:30...got an ice coffee and had a banana. Stayed at a hotel 1.5 miles from race so rode my bike over. Forgot my swim cap...luckily they gave me a new one. Had an energy bar 45 min before race and set up my tri area.

My bike ride to the event and about 5 minutes of swimming.

Water was great...not too cold. Somewhat choppy...swallowed a good amount of water.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more. I expected about 15 minutes but it was a lot more difficult then I thought. I am just not a good swimmer.

Had to put my sneakers and socks on so this took a little longer then I expected. But overall went well.

Again, my split was not timed. But based on my stop watch I did much better then I expected. I avg 3:42 during training so to get 3:37 is great. With the hills I thought I went much slower.
What would you do differently?:

Pick it up more in the beginning...the swim took a lot out of me.

It took me a while to get going. I finished the second half much better then the first half.

Not sure...I was dead. Train for the run more is all I can think of.

Warm down:

Nothing...just glad to finish. Should have stretched but just hung around waiting for friends to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First time...need to train better.

Event comments:

Very good race...disappointed my split times didn't work. There were 6 of us who did this together and 4 didn't get any split times on swim and bike.
