Comments:

Similar to last week, chose to end my long run with a "race" in order to have company and pick up the pace a little. Not bad considering I ran nearly two hours before the start. I've only done one stand-alone 5K in my life, and honestly do not remember the time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, good training run, two weeks until Las Vegas Marathon.
Post race
Warm down:

Kept running to car to get camera to shoot the boy's finish. We co-erced the boys into doing this, Dakota was OK with the 5K, but Dante' was insistent (to the point of tears) on racing the 1-mile fun run. As a compromise, I suggested they both walk with their momma until the 2-mile point, then race each other to the finish, and I would get a trophy for the winner. They thought that was great, but they finished in a dead heat. Luckily I bought two trophies!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Using this as a training run. ;)

Event comments:

First year for this race, which benefits the LafayetteCommunity Health Care Clinic, providing health care for the non-insured working poor. Well-organized for a first-time event, with the unique "hill" feature. Good party after, as well.
