Swim
Comments: I swam around a little before the start to get used to the water. The start was crowded until the firt bouy turn then I was able to find my own path. Probably one of my best swims for staying on course. I felt really strong. Transition 1
Comments: Took more time getting all of my nutrition into the pockets of my shirt. Bike
Comments: Felt great on the new bike. Wasn't uncomortable anywhere. It was overcast for most of the ride, but when the sun came out it was hot. I ended up with a red card for drafting and had to serve a 4 minute penalty in the penalty box once back in transition. Not really sure I deserved it. It was in quite a cluster, turning a corner. Oh well. Transition 2
Comments: Time includes the 4 minute penalty and a stop to the porta-potty, which I had to wait in line for. Run
Comments: My legs felt great! The tri bike makes a huge difference. I stopped at every aid station to hydrate- It was HOT!!!! There were several people with sprinklers that was a huge help. I needed to walk a few times. I really need help in this area. Just need to spend more time running. Post race
Warm down: Saw my family, they snapped some pictures. I was feeling fantastic. Grabbed a coke from the food tent and went to join my family in the shade. Stopped and talked to some friends from home for a minute. Sat down and started to feel weird. Decided to go to the med tent. Got there and when I started to tell them how I felt I started to hyperventalate. The got me to a cot and rad an IV. I started to cramp like cazy in my hands and my feet. My face felt a little numb as well. What a weird feeling. I ended up needing 2 bags of saline and they put one of those silver blankets over me. I really thought I had done a good job of fueling on the way. I guess not. Just glad I finished. Event comments: It was a great first Half experience for me. The people of Racine were great.
