Pre-race routine:

Got up before the 4 am alarm. Made some oatmeal with blueberries, peanut butter and honey and was out the door by 4:30.
Event warmup:

Put on the wetsuit and jumped in to do a lap around the beach area. Felt good.
Swim
  • 37m 16s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

My swimming has come along well. Ended up with a nice chafe under my right bicep from my wetsuit. Didn't notice it until the run. Painful, but healing.

The open water swim practices have helped me gain more confidence. I didn't stop except to gain bearing in the head on sun a couple of times.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was proud of myself. This was a huge win for me to go non-stop.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

The wetsuit coming off was frustrating. I forgot to leave my shoes clipped in, so had to fumble before I got out of transition.
What would you do differently?:

Body Glide! and shoes on bike.
Bike
  • 1h 53m 18s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 13.82 mile/hr
Comments:

600' climb at 15% grade was slow going but worth the cruise to the bottom, until I took a very tight corner too wide, and skidded into a gravel path. Got some nice road rash, but was not injured at all. My bike could use an adjustment or two though.
What would you do differently?:

Need to practice the hills more, and cornering.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Riding with feet on top of shoes? NOPE. The dismount area came up too quick.
Jumping off moving bike? NOPE. They made you stop at the line and get off.
Running with bike? NOPE. Same as above.
What would you do differently?:

Not much I could do different here. I didn't have "bike" legs like I thought I might have. Took off without an issue.
Run
  • 1h 15m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 12m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I was ready for the run off the bike, but got a little tired around mile 4 or 5. My right shoulder blade started to give me trouble, so ice at one of the stations was helpful. I slowed down the last mile, as I told myself I would NOT walk. Got a shout out from a Pro from behind with 1/2 mile left. That was helpful. Wanted to run as fast as he, but I couldn't pick up my pace if I wanted to. The last 200 yards - I just wanted to be done!

What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Just wished I had it in me to go faster than 12 min mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Jumped in the lake to cool off! It was wonderful.
Had a massage in the nearby tent to release the tension in my shoulder blade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not really sure. It did start to get hot, but that didn't seem to bother me all that much.

Event comments:

I've only done 3 races, but this one was the best of all. The organization of it all was top hat.
