Comments: Followed incorrect homward bound bouys on way out, so I swam a little longer than needed. Otherwise nice and relaxed effort What would you do differently?: check out bouy size the day before Transition 1
Comments: I chose to put shoes on in transition and run to bike in shoes, much better this way at this event What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: nutrition was great this year 6 bottles of infinit, loo stops at two final turn around points, and refilled the bottles left knee started to ache half way through, itb issues I believe associated with trying to find a comfortable spot on the saddle. Transition 2
Comments: I felt great to get off the bike, stripped and changed quickly whilst seated, voluteers assisted with sunscreen Run
Comments: first 3km felts amazing, I was cruising as so happy to be off the bike. Checked the watch, running 5m/km, too fast so slowed down to ensure I finisehd. Stomach ache during laps 2 & 3. Backed off on the gel, took one at hr, one at 1.45 and another at 2.30 then no more, just water, iso and coke after that Left ITB was painfull for laps 2-4, see bike comments, shortened my stride to keep moving and minimise the discomfort What would you do differently?: ease off on the gels, seek out people with similar rythmn to pacewith Post race
Warm down: walk back to hotel and back to watch the late finisheds What limited your ability to perform faster: left ITB flare up 1/2way through bike Event comments: They ran out of coke at the aid stations on the run I am happy with the race, I improved by approx. 55min from the previous year!
